Reminder: Temporary embargo on guest pass travel to parts of Europe July 1–Aug. 15

With expected heavy flight loads across Europe, American is placing an embargo on all guest pass travelers flying at the D3 priority to and from the following stations July 1–Aug. 15: Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH); Dublin (DUB); Naples, Italy (NAP); Nice, France (NCE) and Paris (CDG). This embargo is designed to prevent the frustrations and delays guest pass travelers have experienced in recent summers. It also allows our airport teams to focus on supporting ticketed customers so we can run a successful and reliable international summer operation. Find out all of the specifics.

New services that launched this month

  • Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH), with nonstop seasonal service from PHL through Oct. 6
  • Naples, Italy (NAP), with nonstop seasonal service from PHL through Oct. 26 (Oct. 25 eastbound)
  • Tokyo Haneda (HND), with nonstop service from JFK, complementing existing service from both DFW and LAX
  • Veracruz, Mexico (VER), with nonstop service from DFW
  • Hyannis, Massachusetts (HYA), with nonstop seasonal service from both DCA and LGA through Sept. 3

Trip of a lifetime: World War II veterans mark 80th anniversary of D-Day

American had the honor of flying nearly 70 World War II veterans to the shores of Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The trip served as a heartfelt tribute, expressing the deepest respect for those who fought for our freedom. American is proud to have provided the veterans with an opportunity to honor the fallen and to pay homage to their bravery. Watch the recap video on our Newsroom.

An elevated experience coming to PHL

We are creating more elevated space for our customers at PHL with the opening of the A-West Flagship Lounge and Admirals Club spaces in 2025. The opening of the new lounges will continue to create a harmonized design experience across all newly opened lounges that customers will instantly recognize. Ahead of the new lounges opening, American will build excitement amongst AAdvantage members and customers.

Pardon our dust: Hub airport enhancements underway

You may have noticed construction happening at some of our hub airports, including DFW and JFK. American, in partnership with airport operators, are focused on modernizing customers' experiences at airports across the country. There are several projects underway at our hubs, including at CLT, DFW, JFK and LAX. Just last month, two projects kicked off:

  • DFW’s Terminal C renovation, which will bring several enhancements to the terminal experience. If you travel through DFW this summer, you will notice gate upgrades underway in Terminal C and airfield enhancements.
  • JFK’s Terminal 8 enhanced concessions program, which will further improve the customer experience with more than 60 new shopping and restaurant offerings set to start opening 4Q24 through 2025. In the meantime, if you stop by JFK this summer, you will enjoy a seasonal artist showcase that is transforming construction barriers into a gallery-style exhibit celebrating the local Jamaica and greater Queens community.

And stay tuned for new projects set to kick off later this year at DCA and ORD.

Step inside an IOC unit … where customer journeys are saved

The IOC is divided into 11 units, a concept that brings together team members who look after customers, crews and aircraft maintenance needs, and makes collaborative decisions that form the backbone of American's daily operation. Think of these units as teams of problem solvers who are committed to safely keeping things moving when they're thrown operational curveballs — and looking ahead to prevent issues from getting worse — or appearing altogether.
