When does the new Travel Planner launch?
The new Travel Planner will launch on March 30, 2017.
What time will I able to start using the new Travel Planner?
The new Travel Planner will be ready to use at 9 a.m. CT. on March 30, 2017.
What if I need to list for travel before 9 a.m. CT on March 30, 2017?
You’ll be able to use NRTP. In fact, NRTP isn’t disappearing overnight. It’ll remain in place to help through the transition. While the new system is intuitive and user friendly, it’s still a change from what you use today. You’ll still be able to find the NRTP link in the Travel space (Click Travel from the drop down, and then view more. You’ll find it under Help & resources).
What if I need to check in for a flight at 9 a.m. CT. What system do I use?
Either one will work!
How can I access the new Travel Planner?
You’ll access the new Travel Planner the same way you access NRTP today. Simply log in to the Retiree site, select Travel from the top navigation, and then click the Travel icon – you’re ready to plan your travel.
Can I bookmark the new Travel Planner link?
The system only allows access through the Retiree site. Follow the instructions above to access the Travel Planner on the Retiree site.
Why do I have to go through the Retiree site to access the new Travel Planner?
Travel has always been accessed through the Retiree site and we want all retirees to have a seamless experience when using the Travel Planner. That’s why we combined all functions, booking travel, checking in, viewing priority lists and more, into one system. You don’t need to access difference applications or websites to check in or look at the priority lists. It’s all available through Retiree site.
How do I log out of the new Travel Planner?
You simply close out the browser window and navigate back to the Retiree site, where you can select Log out.
Is there an app for the new Travel Planner?
There’s no app required. The Travel Planner is mobile friendly. So everything you can do on your computer, you’ll be able to do from your mobile device, including listing for flights (which you couldn’t do through the old apps).
When can expect to see electronic form of payment instead of payroll deduct?
Soon! We’ll roll out electronic form of payment this summer. For now, it’ll continue to be invoiced.
What happens to NRTP?
NRTP won’t go away on March 30, 2017, but it won’t stay around much longer. And for all intents and purposes, you don’t need it anymore. Everything that you do in NRTP before we launch will transfer over to the new system, including flight lists and traveler information. That also means you don’t need to book in both systems. Stick with the new system. It’s much better.
You’ll still be able to find the NRTP link in the Travel space (Click Travel from the top navigation).
I’ve been using NRTP for years, and prefer it. Can I continue using it?
Technically, yes. While the new system is intuitive and user friendly, it’s still a change from what you use today. You’ll still be able to find the NRTP link on the Travel overview page (Click Travel from the top navigation). That said, it won’t be around forever, so we encourage you to start using the new system.
Will the flights I listed for in NRTP transfer over to the new system? What about my business trips?
You’re covered. Everything you do in NRTP before we launch will transfer over to the new Travel Planner. And no action is needed on your part. You’ll automatically see everything on day one.
Do I still need JetAway?
Not anymore. The new Travel Planner is mobile friendly, meaning you can do everything that you do on your computer, on your phone or other mobile device. Plus, you’ll never have to worry about updating. To easily access the new Travel Planner from your mobile device, make sure the Retiree site is saved to your home screen.
Can I still get a mobile boarding pass?
And we’ve made a user guide to walk you through how to access your mobile boarding pass when you travel.
Are any of the travel guidelines changing with this new system?
The system is the only thing changing at this time, so you’ll still use the Travel Guide for guidelines and procedures.
Is there an easier way to check flight loads for my listed trips?
Yes, that’s in the works. We’re working to add a feature that will allow you to easily check flight loads for your listed trips. Stay tuned, we’ll share more when we're ready to roll out that feature.
Will I be able to give my eligible travelers and guests access to the new system?
Coming soon. We expect this functionality to be included later this year.
How do we know how many open revenue seats are on a flight?
The system now does the math for you. Once you start a search, you’ll see the total number of available revenue seats. They are color coded just like they were in NRTP – green for a good chance of getting on, orange for fair and red for unlikely. Additionally, we’ve added shapes to ensure all team members and retirees are aware of the likelihood of getting on. So, green circles for a good chance of getting on, orange rounded squares for fair and red sharp squares for unlikely.
Can I search round trip or do I need to do it segment by segment?
Yep! You can now search roundtrips. Gone are the days of having to perform another search for your return. Just click “round trip” when you’re searching and the system will give you a second tab at the top of the results to represent your return. If you want to book a “circle trip”, for example, DFW-ORD-JFK-DFW, you will continue to list for those as separate one-way trips.
When I do a Best bets search, can I choose the destination I want?
All you need for a Best bets search is your departure city and date(s) of travel. The results will show you domestic and international cities with the most available seats for the given date(s) – your best bet for getting on a plane!
How far in advance can I do a Best bets search?
Best bets allows you to search up to a week in advance.
What about connections? Will those show up in a Best bets search?
The Best bets search will show nonstop results only.
Can I book AA20 tickets in the new Travel Planner?
No, you’ll continue to book AA20 tickets like you do today. But, that’s a feature we’re looking to implement in the future.
Is there an easy way to see where we fly in the new system?
Yes, click Tools in the top toolbar and select “Where we fly” from the drop down. It will take you directly to our American Airlines flight maps page.
